St. Louis Area Foodbank (SLAFB) JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Community Philanthropy Coordinator Immediate Supervisor: Director of Marketing&Communications Employees Supervised: N/A General Description/Position Summary The St. Louis Area Foodbank (SLAFB) is adding a Community Philanthropy Coordinator to our dynamic and growing Marketing team The Community Philanthropy Coordinator is primarily responsible for raising funds that best support the St. Louis Area Foodbank's mission through building and developing meaningful relationships with organizations and groups throughout the 26-county region the SLAFB serves in the bi-state (Missouri and Illinois) area. Duties and Responsibilities Reporting to and working in partnership with the Director of Marketing&Communications, the Community Philanthropy Coordinator will develop and implement strategies and tactics to: Develop programs and opportunities to seek out and engage organizations and groups in philanthropic campaigns while also promoting other support opportunities, such as food drives, advocacy, and/or volunteering. Identify, solicit, and steward relationships with community-based and other organizations to support the SLAFB. Examples include but are not limited to: Local restaurants and small businesses (round-up or special promotions) Schools, service/civic clubs, youth groups, and religious organizations Coordinate community-based fundraising efforts: Track expenses and review monthly financial goals Identify new partnership opportunities Cultivate and maintain relationships with current partners Present on behalf of the SLAFB in front of small and large audiences Coordinate 3rd party events&fundraising campaigns Work closely with various departments throughout the SLAFB, but in particular Marketing and Communications (cause marketing), Product Sourcing (food drives), and Volunteer Services (volunteer opportunities). Partner with the Philanthropy Department to identify corporate and community partners and the Partners and Programs Team (school markets). Assist with the Friends of the Foodbank program. Coordinate the vehicle donation program. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. Emphasis on communications, marketing, business, or non-profit management preferred. 1 - 3 years of experience working in a non-profit/community impact Philanthropy department is preferred. Passion for the Foodbank's mission and the ability to demonstrate the SLAFB's Core Values (Stewardship, Teamwork, Agility, and Respect). Strong public speaking/presentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Excellent customer service skills and mindset. A demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Excellent organization and problem-solving skills. Proficient in Raiser's Edge or similar CRM software. Proficiency with the Microsoft applications including: Office, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. and other web-based applications. Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, handle interruptions, maintain focus on tasks, and produce accurate work. Ability to collect and analyze data to guide effective decision-making. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check. Work Schedule Monday - Friday onsite at the SLAFB facility and in the community as needed. However, flexibility will be granted as appropriate in accordance with the SLAFB's Remote Work/Working From Home Policy. Occasional weekend (Saturday/Sunday) or evening hours may be required. About the St. Louis Area Foodbank The St. Louis Area Foodbank (SLAFB) is a member of Feeding America, which is a national network of 200 food banks all working together for the common goal of ensuring equitable access to nutritious food. This nationwide network offers us a variety of resources, like food, funds, best practices, and gives our work a much bigger, louder voice than we could hope to have on our own. The St. Louis Area Foodbank supports 26 counties - 14 in Missouri and 12 in Illinois - thus serves, supports and stewards a diverse group of stakeholders across our region, as well as serves as a member of Feeding Missouri (the 6 Feeding America Food Banks in Missouri) and Feeding Illinois (the 7 Feeding America Food Banks in Illinois). As a food bank, we collect food from a variety of sources, such as manufacturers, retail stores, farmers, and individual donors. We then store, sort, and repackage that food at the highest safety standards and finally distribute that food to our network of agencies and programs, which work directly with people in the community. We facilitate the movement of food safely and efficiently and offer the kinds of resources and support to our partner agencies that a single food pantry or shelter could not hope to access on its own.
