Inova Fairfax Children’s Hospital is looking for a Clinical Nurse Educator to support the Pediatric Cardiac ICU. This 12-bed unit serves the needs of critically ill infants, children, and adolescents who require specialized heart care including transplant and device management. It is staffed by highly skilled nurses and a team of intensivists from multiple subspecialties, including anesthesiology, pediatric cardiology, pediatric heart surgery, neonatology (newborn care), cardiac critical care, and pulmonology (lung care). In this role you will: Assist in overseeing growth of the staff, unit and pediatric ECMO and Pulmonary Hypertension programs. Implement Inova Health System programs for staff to achieve patient care and outcome standards, such as core measures, Magnet standards and patient satisfaction. Utilize system strategies and tools to assess competence of new nursing staff members while focusing on quality of care and patient safety goals. Plan and implement educational activities to support individual development and organizational goals. Inform appropriate nursing leaders when staff is unable to successfully complete, or are noncompliant with, required competencies. Integrate theoretical knowledge, evidence-based principles and clinical nursing expertise into educational experiences for both new employees and experienced staff. Work with teams to synthesize data about quality and safety measures which lead to needed improvements in standards of care by developing, revising and implementing policies, procedures and protocols. Collaborate with clinicians to ensure practice is evidence based and identifies, reviews and applies evidence to guidelines and standards for patient care. Incorporate best practices and research into educational programs while analyzing quality and effectiveness of educational programs. Relocation assistance and sign-on bonus eligible.
