Job Description

Overall purpose of Job To work under the reasonable direction of the Head Teacher/ Leadership Team to teach classes across the department and assist in curriculum development. To perform such duties as may reasonably be assigned in accordance with the needs of the school. Duties and Responsibilities Teaching Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons for small classes (up to 6 pupils) in the primary sector. Teach in accordance with pupils’ educational needs, including setting and assessment of pupils’ work. Assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of pupils. Provide and contribute to oral and written assessments, reports, and references relating to individuals and groups of pupils. Other Activities Promote the general progress and well-being of individual pupils and of any class or group of pupils. Provide guidance and advice on pupils’ educational and social matters, including further education and career planning. Make records and reports on the academic, personal, and social needs of pupils. Communicate and consult with care staff, foster carers, and, where appropriate, parents of pupils. Participate in relevant meetings. Be available for break duties. Actively support the school and adhere to company policies. Support the Positive Relationships, Physical Intervention, and Team Teach techniques of the school (training provided), including using agreed interventions to maintain the safety of all pupils and staff and the discipline of the school. Contribute to the development of a positive work ethos and a happy working environment. Participate in arrangements made in accordance with the organisation’s appraisal process. Review methods of teaching and programmes of work. Participate in arrangements for further development and professional training. Follow the school’s behaviour procedures and protocols, safeguarding pupils’ health, welfare, and safety, both when they are authorised to be on the school premises and when engaged in authorised school activities elsewhere. Supervise, and so far as practicable, teach any pupils when their teacher is not available. Help pupils prepare for examinations, assess pupils for such examinations, record and report assessments, and participate in arrangements for pupil supervision during examinations.
