Job Responsibilities Oversee the design and coordination of work on single discipline and multidiscipline projects ranging from due diligence/site feasibility studies, site engineering, regulatory approvals, public bidding and construction administration for a variety of municipal improvement projects. Direct and manage staff in preparing site, grading, drainage, roadway, water and sewer infrastructure designs. Assist in reviewing land use applications (for municipalities) and participate in land use board representation for municipalities in NJ. Prepare written specifications in the CSI format and/or NJDOT format and project manuals for municipal projects for public bidding in accordance with Local Public Contracts Law. Prepare hydrology and hydraulic calculations and be knowledgeable of NJDEP stormwater drainage and MS4 requirements. Perform project administration including writing reports and correspondence, gathering information, tracking project costs, and completing progress reports. Prepare engineer's opinion of probable costs for designed projects and specifications for public bids. Conduct site inspections and field meetings with contractors from pre-construction through construction completion to ensure satisfactory outcomes for the client. Work both independently and within a team of other professionals and technicians, and lead small teams on assignments. As a Project Manager on assignments, responsible for ensuring on-time, on budget, high quality deliverables which meet the client’s requirements. Prepare proposals in response to RFPs and new project opportunities. Initiate and/or continue relationship building and client management efforts by communicating directly with clients in support and coordination of all project activities. In conjunction with senior management, assist in supporting the growth and development of the Civil discipline by helping to drive business development initiatives. Education and Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline. NJ PE required. PP and CME desired. 12 years civil design experience with a specific focus on municipal/public consulting projects. Thorough understanding of the New Jersey land use processes. Field experience necessary to resolve construction issues as they arise. Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices of related technical areas. Working knowledge of various software programs including AutoCAD/Civil 3D, stormwater modeling (e.g. Bentley SewerGEMS, HydroCAD, SSA, etc.), Microsoft Office Professional, Bluebeam, etc. Self-motivated and capable of working independently or within project teams. Demonstrated ability to manage staff and lead technical teams. Team-spirited, focused and able to make independent decisions. Strong oral and written communication skills. Willingness and desire to advance career through the management of existing clients and the development of new clients throughout NJ. The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $140,000 annually. The employment offer may deviate from this published range based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, specialty, knowledge, education, geography and/or related certifications – not related to any applicant’s characteristics protected by local, state or federal law.
