SUMMARY: The staff certified athletic trainer has two distinct sets of duties. The primary duties include the provision of athletic training specific services to a contracted educational institution, a sponsored or contracted event, or a sponsored or contracted organization. These services include but are not limited to: Control and discretion of the evaluation, treatment and disposition of injured athletes; athletic injury prevention and management; record keeping; on-site coverage at least consistent with the terms of the contract. The secondary duties include all other responsibilities. There will be individual variance in the degree of involvement with these programs and functions. These duties include but are not limited to: Assistance with the Lexington Clinic Orthopedic practice, assistance with the Lexington Clinic Physical Therapy practice, organization and involvement with Sports Medicine Center programs, professional and layperson educational programming, assistance with departmental research efforts, marketing, public speaking, and other duties as assigned by Supervisor. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university; certification by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification; certification (or certification eligible) by the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure; CPR certification; valid driver’s license; excellent verbal and written communication skills; two years athletic training experience preferred; ability to communicate effectively with peers, physicians, staff, patients, athletes, coaches, administrators, parents, etc. PHYSICAL GUIDELINES: Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; lift, move and carry material weighing up to 50 pounds; ability to safely assist injured patients and athletes; ability to work outdoors in variety of weather conditions.
