Job Description Job Description Basic Function Responsible for working with youth in the early stages of learning English, assisting with site staff supervision, recruiting students, facilitating the youth program activities, maintaining site, and performing program-related assignments as needed by the Site Coordinator. As part of the role, candidates must be able to drive a 15-passenger van to transport students ages 5-13 years old for pick-ups and drop-offs each program day and complete the required training safety course and upkeep/maintenance on the van. Responsibilities 1. Support teachers/tutors in meeting the needs of students in the early stages of learning English. 2. Help the new immigrant student assimilate to their new life in the U.S. 3. Assist with management of day-to-day operations of the program sites, including organization, maintenance, cleaning, safety, and security. 4. Assist with maintenance of student files, progress reports, attendance, and other necessary participant documents 5. Assist with establishing and maintaining relationship and communication with youth and parents and staff regarding student’s needs and progress. 6. Assist with establishing and maintaining communication with the participant’s school regarding student’s needs. 7. Assist with coordinating and recruiting tutors and tutor volunteers 8. Assist with planning curriculum activities and supervising implementation. 9. Perform other duties as required by Site Coordinator. 10. Attend staff meetings, training session, and program special events. Skills Oral communication skills Professionalism Interpersonal Written communication skills Flexible Team Player Computer skills While not required, fluency in Somali or Maay Maay is preferred. Education College degree preferred. Minimum of High School diploma or GED, with experience working with youth, and willingness to continue professional development. Experience Previous experience working with youth, and experience working with diverse populations.
