Who We Are: With almost 70 years of experience as an independent research, development, and evaluation laboratory for fuels and lubricants, we are well qualified to tackle challenges affecting marine vessels and locomotives, trucks and automobiles, and even hand-held power tools. Objectives of this Role: To ensure and improve the quality control, compliance and efficiency of petroleum products in the automotive industry. Communicate with lab supervisor and project managers to ensure project requirements and deadlines are met. Perform engine testing on fuels using standard test methods and Test Inspection Procedures (TIPs). Complete testing in a safe manner by following safety practices and Environmental Management and Quality Systems. Support and manage adequate laboratory supply levels and assist in maintaining laboratory and instrumentation cleanliness. Daily and Monthly Responsibilities: Perform test analysis in accordance with ASTM, TIP or laboratory procedures and specifications. Testing will also include reviewing and documenting calibration records, chemical expiration dates and QA values as valid before completing sample analysis. Primary responsibility will be the operation of gasoline and diesel test stand engines, calibrate instrumentation, clean and maintain test equipment as required. Perform engine maintenance and repairs as identified i.e. grease bearings, change oil, change filters etc. Perform all tasks in a safe and efficient manner by following and adhering to safety practices, policies and procedures. Work on multiple tasks productively and effectively in a team or as an individual contributor with limited direct supervision. Should also be available to work shift work, weekends and overtime when needed. Requirements: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent Laboratory technician classes or certifications preferred 0 years: Must be mechanically inclined. Automotive/mechanical experience obtained from either high school, vocational training or hands on engine/mechanical repair work is helpful. Must be able to work safely with hand and power tools and adhere to all safety policies and procedures. General computer experience required with a working knowledge of software including Excel/Word. Should also be available to work shift work, weekends and overtime when needed. A valid/clear driver's license is required
