Position Details Job Title: Assistant Dean, Bar Success and Academic Support Position Number: 8102248 Job Category: University Staff Job Type: Full-Time FLSA Status: Exempt Campus: Chicago-Water Tower Campus Department Name: LAW SCHOOL Location Code: SCHOOL OF LAW (02700A) Is this split and/or fully grant funded? No Duties and Responsibilities The Assistant Dean of Academic Success and Bar Passage reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and the Law School Dean, and works in partnership with the Law School Dean to advance law school priorities and maximize outcomes. The Associate Dean supervises the Assistant Director of Academic Success and Bar Passage and oversees Loyola Law's Academic Success and Bar Passage program. The main goal of the Academic Success Program is to develop and deliver programs to promote the academic success of students from matriculation, throughout law school, and as they prepare to enter the legal profession. This includes programming and support for students during pre-orientation, orientation, the three years of law school, and bar prep. Primary Responsibilities (include but are not limited to): Academic Success and Bar Passage Develop and enhance school-wide bar support initiatives in every semester of the students' law school education. Implement, coordinate, and evaluate exam skills programs and resources for targeted students. Develop courses designed to teach skills essential for all components of the bar exam. Develop workshops and other resources addressing essential information and skills relating to the bar exam. Work individually with targeted students and other students seeking additional academic support during law school and through the bar exam. Analyze academic support and bar preparation data to formulate progressive annual goals. Formulate innovative academic support programs that respond to the needs of law school students and graduates. Administration Coordinate communications with the Board of Bar Examiners in various states and with commercial bar exam preparation providers. Oversee the administration of the Academic Tutor Program. Coordinate with the Registrar's office each semester to identify and reach out to students who fall below certain GPA parameters. Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Administration and other faculty members to identify and support at-risk students. Develop and provide additional resources for repeat bar exam takers. Create and maintain a webpage with information and resources relevant to the bar exam. Track student performance through data collection and compile bar exam results. Other Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Education and/or Work Experience A J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school and be admitted to practice by a state bar. In addition, applicants should have a minimum of 5 years of previous teaching experience or equivalent administration experience. Qualifications A J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school and be admitted to practice by a state bar. Previous teaching experience in academic support and bar preparation, or equivalent administration experience, is required. Certificates/Credentials/Licenses Qualified applicants should have a J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school and be admitted to practice by a state bar. Computer Skills Must have working knowledge of Microsoft apps, Excel, Word, etc. Supervisory Responsibilities Yes Required operation of university owned vehicles No Does this position require direct animal or patient contact?
