The Material Damage team is hiring in the Middlesex County territory. We are looking for experienced/licensed Appraisers who are I-CAR certified. Join a well respected management team, with an employee-focused operation. Sign-On Bonus and Salary commensurate with experience. Must have a valid MA Appraiser license. Job Summary Evaluate vehicle damages to provide a quality appraisal, estimating the cost of work to repair the vehicle to its pre-damage condition. Primary Responsibilities Utilizing software system and industry best practices, prepares itemized appraisals indicating costs of parts, materials and labor necessary to restore damaged vehicles to their pre-damage condition. Maintain a professional image while adhering to company and state regulated guidelines as they pertain to the appraisal process. Keeps apprised of territorial labor rates, repair techniques, vehicle construction and design, industry trends and applicable state regulations. Provides technical advice on vehicle repair, parts costs, garage expertise and opinions on whether specific damage is related to an accident. Resolves disagreements and negotiates with auto repair facilities, Independent Adjusters, claimants and policyholders. Attend periodic meetings and industry training in order to keep current on issues of auto and property repair. Ability to negotiate around various types of appraisal software and vehicle estimating programs. Prepares and documents accurate vehicle Actual Cash and Replacement values according to applicable regulatory and corporate guidelines May work with CAR EZ shops related to technical performance, customer service standards and timely service to customers. Travel and field work may occur during both business and non-business hours, including weekdays and weekends. May need to be available for overnight travel to handle field losses, field visits and re-inspections of staff and independent appraisal firms, and/or Catastrophe Duty. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Appraisers License with 3-6 years’ experience Bachelor’s degree or professional level of knowledge in a specialized field, ICAR Designation or equivalent, related experience Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must possess a valid driver’s license and individual state appraiser license if required by the state in which working or for any appraisals written for that state. Complete accurate and timely field appraisals, drive-in appraisals, supplements and re-inspections on damaged vehicles within the established service level agreements. Adherence to all appraisal and estimating guidelines, procedures and regulatory mandates. Negotiate with customers or repair shop appraisers for proper repairs to vehicles in a safe, cost effective manner with a high level of integrity. Frequent oral communication with customers is required and must be timely. Ensure our Customer Service and Productivity standards are being met. Must be available for extended overnight travel to handle field losses, drive-in losses, field visits, and re-inspections of staff and independent appraisal firms, and / or Catastrophe Duty.
