This position provides essential support to technical and medical staff, along with excellent hands-on care to our patients. If you have a love of animals, please read below for more info Overview of Training Program Our attendant training program is designed to set each individual up for success and help them reach their career goals here at Angell. Each attendant will advance through three levels as they learn and obtain the necessary foundational skills required to excel in their role. Attendants will receive in-depth knowledge of veterinary medicine and have the opportunity for continued education. Responsibilities of an Attendant Initial responsibilities include hospital orderly tasks, such as laundry and setting up patient beds, cleaning wards and kennels, stocking (food, medications, and supplies), and accurately documenting medical records in the digital treatment sheets. Additional training will allow attendants to provide more direct patient care, such as practicing safe, fear-free restraint for medical procedures, walking patients, bathing and cleaning patients, feeding, icing, nebulizing, etc. Expectations of Attendant Position The ability to multitask and prioritize patient needs are important aspects of this position, as well as the ability to work independently and as a team. Each day is entirely different, so good time management skills, flexibility, and adaptability are essential. You must be able to work professionally and effectively in emergency situations that may sometimes be emotionally upsetting. It is essential for attendants to recognize and report when an animal is unstable or in distress and quickly respond or alert the appropriate staff of the situation.
