Under the direction of the Surgical Services Leadership maintains and prepares anesthesia supplies and equipment before, during and after anesthesia induction. Assists with patient related activities as assigned, maintaining established procedures. Essential functions and responsibilities include: • Assists Anesthesia with connecting MOA invasive monitoring equipment and with patient positioning as directed. • Refers repairs of equipment to appropriate persons. • Cleans and sterilizes or disposes of equipment, as appropriate, after each case and cleans anesthesia cart and replaces supplies as necessary. • Maintains stock for drugs and other supplies and equipment as appropriate. Essential Functions and Responsibilities 1. Attends 50% of in-services and staff meetings for area. 2. Prioritizes workload at beginning of shift so that important deadlines are met. 3. Prepares equipment and medications anticipated to be needed for a scheduled patient. 4. Accurately cleans, sterilizes or disposes of equipment, as appropriate, at the conclusion of each case. 5. Accurately restocks anesthesia cart at end of schedule, in preparation for the following day's needs. 6. Maintains stock inventory of drugs, anesthetic agents and expendable supplies; requisitions supplies as required. 7. Performs the glucometer&ACT waiver testing and reports all abnormal recordings to Surgical Services management. Maintains and logs results. 8. Assists with connecting of anesthesia monitoring equipment and assists with positioning patient as directed. 9. Maintains a neat, clean work area, observing infection control guidelines; communicates housekeeping needs as appropriate. 10. Knows own role in case of surgical fire, codes and emergency situations and responds appropriately. 11. Assists with the transport and room turnover. 12. Accurately restocks anesthesia carts located in Surgical Services, Perinatal and all specialty areas at the end of each case. 13. Maintains relationships and aids in arranging services and meetings with vendor representatives. 14. Responds and assists anesthesia for all code blue situations. 15. Ensures clear airways for proper airflow during anesthesia administration 16. Monitor and adjust anesthetic equipment and supplies as directed by anesthesia provider. 17. Provide assistance to anesthesia providers during procedures. 18. Qualifications and Standards Education: None required. Experience: Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required. One year experience in hospital OR or Critical Care required; Respiratory Care airway management preferred. Certifications/Licensure: Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Certification through ASATT (American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians) preferred.
